This is awesome. Went and seen Dan Deacon Last night and my word did it live up to my amazingly high expectations. Been listening to his album spiderman of the rings constantly. Accidently bumped into a video on youtube after having another inspiring last.fm recommendation. Thankyou last. The only way I can describe this gig is imagine some weird primary school music lesson based on trippy electronic equipment and your teacher was eddie izzard. Fun Fun Fun was had. Silly dancing was had by all. He didn’t bother with the stage just put a table in the middle genius. His equipment was equally as bizzare which apparently he just finds. loved it. loved it. Went with richie who i think actually loved it more than christmas. Great gig awesome night out topped only with a scooby snack on the way home. Magic.

Last night me and Macca. Glasgow Barrowlands. LCD Soundsytem. Loved it. Support from Prinzhorn Dance School not that exciting…seen them last time when me and Macca went and seen CSS. Thought there was going to be more people dancing about like idiots to be honest. We did try. Home Via Maccas Local chip Shop where they were just closing and gave us:
1 Massive battered haggis
1 bit of fish
2 battered Sausages
£3 the icing on the cake.
Go See LCD Soundsystem….Awesome!

Whoop. This was a bit of a random one. I stay not far away from Oran Mor and thought I might as well go. It sounded like a safe gig. Much fun was had. Alot of jingle Jangleness and some sore knees from that bounce thing you do when you can’t really be assed to jump properly. Eliza was in luck this gig as the first 6 rows consisted of girls roughly her height or smaller…so this gig she actually got to see…which was nice. Support was from Crash my model Car I did a little bit of research on them and found they had some minor success with a song which featured in the OC…which by the way I hate and Eliza loves. Sounded American were actually from the outer hebrides. What you gonna do?. Liked it. good gig. Much better than puressence who I seen there a few weeks back which were so awful they never even made blog.

What a weekend. This weekend I’ve had my friend James over, down from Aberdeen. Thought we’d show him a good weekend and got some tickets for Justice at the Arches last night. They did indeed deliver. A few Dj’s on before which were alright but a bit default. Good big crowd of us. Macca just flew in from Poland just for a dance. Gary Wood graced us with his pressence and I think we’re one step closer to getting him to move to Glasgow. Lots of immense dancing when they eventually came on at 1am. The place was jumping, unfortunately it got very close and sweaty very quickly…didn’t stop us though was brilliant fun. Had to keep coming out for fresh air and water. As it got later we thought we would venture up to the front “to have it large”.

It was here a big sweaty man put his arm round me and was saying something in my ear…couldn’t make it out. Then I felt his other hand squeeze my arse…………..we left (if he had to look like a memeber of the village people it would be the constuction worker)

What a week it’s been! since the football on wednesday I had possibly the worst hangover ever…this was cured by matthew saunders taking me straight to the pub again…brilliant. Thursday night we went and seen grizzly bear another band I stumbled across using last.fm. It’s a difficult one to describe probably best just to go to their site than me try and explain.

The gig was in Nicensleazy…Nice little venue, also they sold 4 pint pitchers
just what my hangover needed. The sound held up well, both the quiet bits and the big noisy epic bits.
Support was from john b mckenna was quite good to…even though he did look about 12. Everyone dispersed to catch buses and trains, I missed mine by 2 mins and had to walk home…DAMMIT!

2 gigs in one week! This one was part of triptych. CSS headlined, Ratatat and Prinzhorn dance school supported. Was in the Barrowlands and was the first time I had been. Liked it much better than the Arches from tuesday night. I only knew one Prinzhorn tune “you are the space invader” which is awesome. The rest was very lofi bit bland. Ratatat on the other hand! Awesome got the album a while back despite being quite samey it’s all good. Was funny live, they’re like a more hip hop Air with some quality early 80’s guitar over the top. I think I prefered them to CSS.

CSS were good didn’t realise the band was pretty much all women and one guy on drums…A kinda bigger more brazilian arty Corrs if you like…I don’t know if he was called Jim. The lead singer pranced around in a one peice purple spandex number…I couldn’t see if she was fit or not…We stood by the bar all night. Macca isn’t a big dancey music fan but after what he put me through on tuesday…I gave him no choice. Good night allround with a good mix of good music

Went to see yann tiersen last night, totally maccas fault as he is the frenchest friend I have. Also joining the equally as bizarre festivities was eliza and ruth. Didn’t know much about the concert before I went in all honesty. His biggest claim to fame was he did the amelie soundtrack..which was so french it was unreal. That was what we expected but far from what we got. It ended up sounding like a really crap french mogwai and some songs even sounded like bad french eurovision entries.
It was by far the tallest gig I’ve ever been to…which doesn’t help having the smallest girlfriend! I think th floor in the arches slopes up towards the stage too..so if it’s gonna be a busy gig and you’re not over 6ft I wouldn’t bother.
Highlight of the evening was finding a woman taller than macca…he refused to stand next to her…so I had to be sneaky

More gigage today me and Eliza went and seen the Rapture. I bought the tickets ages ago and roughly tied it in with Elizas birthday but it was purely selfish as she doesn’t know much about them. If you don’t know them go find out…it’s awsome. They’re from New york and it sounds kinda funky kinda housey kinda discoey kinda punky but good for a dance. The gig was good…Although it was like H&M were having a sale on skinny jeans (surely not an ideal outfit for dancing?) They also had a full time cowbell player! woohoo! his dancing was genius…like some kind of disco gollum.
The support was shit disco which i liked and Eliza didn’t. Like the rapture only a bit more punky and rough around the edges (and from glasgow! woohoo!). All good!

Well last night I went to see Nine Inch Nails or NIN as all the cool kids call them. Was a bit of a random last minute choice, some people from work were going and I thought I would give it a go. Don’t know much of their songs but enough to get the jist which only added to the randomness. Ladytron were supporting and I’ve got one of theirs (albums not children).
After work it was off to the solid just to get in a “rawk” frame of mind and remind myself how bad I am at pool. Later we walk to carling academy where it’s pretty clear the bulk of the crazys we’re caught in the crowd with were also going to the gig. How out of place did I look?
Just caught the end of Ladytron wasn’t that impressed it all just came out as a wall of noise.
NIN were good although there isn’t a great deal I could compare it to. For the first 5 songs the whole academy was filled with smoke so all the lighting just turned it into a warzone…which was…eh…different. They have alot of crazy tunes it all a bit difficult to do anything to really. One minute it’s quiet and mellow (just when you’re about to strike up some banter) then it just turns to thrash.
Concert comes to an end start talking to member of security i’m quite drunk at this point and everything is quite hilarious. Asked him what was the best thing he’d seen live having worked there a few years…then he said it…”Richard Ashcroft“…we left.
I’m glad I went…just haven’t figured out why yet. Having nothing to eat for most of the day I opted for an early tube home and a scooby snack…job done!
