back of one…really?

This argument has been around a while. When is the back of one? Some people claim it to be after one?…after?…yes after…even though the word back implies behind?

from the rays of the sun…

Straight off the train from oban it was to work then to the pub before heading to see public enemy. A big squad from work headed to the courtyard (our local (they love gomez in there (the band)). From here to the bierhalle a knew one popped up on sauchiehall street, where i consumed about 2 pizzas and a hotdog and a half.

The gig itself was magic. Missed edan which I really wanted to see but food had the beter of me. Upon arrival I had to ask someone if Dr octagon had been on yet only for him to say “this is him on now”, and had been for the 20 mins i’d been there. with kool keith none the less…he’s kool.

another support was from the bomb squad the producers of their It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back album…didn’t like it much but the bass was quite impressive.

Seen Them a few years back in Aberdeen when i took a certain tommy Hart out for his birthday. But this night was special it was their 20th anniversary of It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back. the highest ranking hip hop album in the rolling stones top 500 albums by the way. They did indeed rock. The crowd went mental…was difficult not to get involved. Lots of white boys dancing…was hilarious. Fun was has by all. If they pop up round your neck of the woods go see them…even if you’re not a fan…well worth a look in.

Loch Awe…some

Our cabin on the banks of loch awe

Well it had been on the cards for a while now, Loch Awe. It was booked last week. A full week up in a log cabin on the banks of loch awe. Me and Lee made the executive decision to get the train to taynault and cycle to dalavich (home of loch cabin). Lee had been there before and knew what the 15 mile trek to dalavich…this was the problem…no he didn’t. Miles upon miles of hills…mostly up. It took 3 hours to get there with bags and bikes.

the uphill struggle

Upon arrival (roughly at about 3) we soon realised all shops in the area were shut. Having taken no food with us we had to settle for pasta and chicken gravy (the only food the cabin had to offer). Venturing to the local pub we got some top scran (see below). let it be noted there was an extra bottle of kopparberg but lee fell over and smashed one.

Dinner is served

next day up relatively early to hire a boat and go fishing…no luck..well I caught a pike, but not off the boat. Then to the pub for food. Dalavich has a post office and a pub. tis all. The pub did great food..I had scampi…magic. The food in the post office was limited, Even the loaves were frozen!

captain johnson

Saturday richie and his lady friend come over to play. Arriving at about 5 we took a bbq to the beach after richie brought with him some manly supplies (mostly meat). From here the midges took charge and chased us away. Then to eurovision. My favourite occassion. My Money was on france…awesome tune. not to be…lost a fiver. The finals were on in the local pub…who knew? from here it was back to cabin until this…

thankyou, goodnight

Sunday seen us jetting round loch awe doing some island hopping. Including an island with a castle and breaking a boat trying to get to a graveyard…mostly my fault :). ritchie had to go home so there was no other option but to go to the pub.

man the turrets

Monday my folks were heading over to say hello. So just a bit of fishing in the sunshine just infront of the cabin until they arrived. No luck but topped up my tan :). when they arrived my mum cooked up a top notch sheppards pie then back to pub…hoorah. Monday consisted of walking my folks dog. I found a snake turned out to be a slow worm.

slowworm? not really that slow

we got a lift back to train station…ahh luxury. back to normality…well a public enemy gig 🙂

don’t recommend shopping with a hangover

Another quality hangover although this was a new one. This weekends hangover is brought to you by the south of Glasgow. The shed to be precise…good night out, good dancing. It was indeed a proper cheesy disco. But the time and place was right. And also for some bizarre reason most of Stonehaven was there. Hilarious. Macca joked it was like a big vennel…he was not wrong. Went shopping with Macca today this was the outcome…just filth…pure filth. I’m actually slightly embarassed…

Ladytron @ Oran Mor

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

Last night my fellow work mate feli persuaded me to go see ladytron. Usual run of practice, out for pints and “go on, you know you want to” I don’t need much convincing. Seen them a few times before…but they were always just supporting. Had a wee listen to the new album and had to go really (It’s called Velocifero…go have a listen). I didn’t take my camera so had to settle for this off their new album. Like this track it’s a bit dr who…esque and hey the video has fit women with wolves…winner. The support was pretty bad…I can’t even remember their name.

Come out and play

My happy camping face!

It seems my blog has gone all a bit great outdoorsy of late. So this is the official invite to come join the festivities. Things to do this year. The west highland way in september. Loch awe for some fishing this month…maybe even the next bank holiday Monday. And last but not least a wee jaunt on the caledonian canal. So who’s coming out to play?
